SFPA Xmas Quiz Night 2008 at the Stadium of Light

Over twenty former players were at the Stadium of Light Sports Bar for the Sunderland Former Players’ Association quiz night.

Hosted by BBC TV’s Jeff Brown the evening saw the sold out 200 plus audience tested with a tough picture quiz involving identifying former Sunderland players, celebrities from
Wearside and Tyneside and a series of local places.

Kevin Ball, Gary Bennett, Eric Gates and Mickey Horswill took questions from the audience (see right) while there was also a raffle and auction of SAFC memorabilia.

The SFPA has over 100 members but in its ten year history has had only three honorary members, however this number has been doubled with the appointment of three new honorary members:

Brian Tinmouth of Edward Thompson;
Former joint editor of The Wearside Roar
and now theRokerEnd contributor Brian Leng;
SAFC Publications Officer, Rob Mason;
...all of whom were delighted to accept the invitation.

The picture quiz was a closely-contested battle of minds and the winners were more than worthy of their prizes. Kind donations of memorabilia made the raffle a success and everyone went home happy.
